The most recognised and iconic of the classic Lotus models, the Lotus Esprit. Made world famous by its appearance in the James Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me, the Lotus Esprit continued as the flagship model of the brand for 28 years.
Designed as successor to the Europa, the Lotus Esprit was based on a similar chassis design, but with a newly designed and built engine and a completely new body shell. Throughout its life, the Lotus Esprit continuously updated received design and performance upgrades, with the later models fitted with a turbo and fuel injection.
The Lotus Esprit V8, the ultimate performance model was released in 1996. This car featured a twin turbo Lotus built V8 engine, which gave it the mantra of supercar killer due to its astonishing performance figures at the time.
