The Maidstone Sports Cars Lotus Honda Conversion is not only the best quality installation, but the most popular, and being a Lotus specialist means that your car is in safe hands, which is proven by us having completed over two hundred and eighty Honda conversions throughout the Lotus range.
Our Honda conversion can now be fitted not only to the Rover engine variants of the Elise/Exige but also the Toyota powered cars including the S2 Exige/111R and the 2-Eleven.
The first conversion, aptly nicknamed the HondaElise, was a 1998 Lotus Elise S1. We replaced the Rover 'K' series with a Normally Aspirated Honda K20A2 engine more commonly found in the Honda Civic Type R EP3. After much testing, we were delighted with the results and we made the car our demonstrator. This car took part in many demonstration track days to show how exciting and reliable the Honda conversion is, which created so much interest for the Lotus HondaElise conversion. Having covered more than forty thousand road and track miles, this car was given a new challenge.
The LoTRDC Lotus Elise Trophy was in its inaugural year, and so Maidstone Sports Cars entered the car as a class C competitor for the season. For this, the car was upgraded to full supercharger specification, along with many Lotus Elise performance upgrades, such as uprated brakes, suspension etc. The car raced faultlessly throughout the season with many race wins.
After changes in the Trophy regulations, the car under new ownership of Fox Motorsport was given a new lease of life. We converted the car back to a normal aspirated spec, the MSC team enjoyed great success in the hands of race driver Jamie Stanley, who drove the car in 2009 and achieved 10 outright wins from 12 starts.
This car was one of many Lotus Elise's that Maidstone Sports Cars converted to full Honda power for the Elise Trophy. At one point, 12 of our HondaElise converted cars lined up on the grid!
Normally aspirated, we have developed an engine that will rev to 8600rpm and produce just under 240bhp in standard form. This conversion has been tried and tested in both road, track and race cars worldwide.
